The Caravel

The Caravel was a revolutionary ship design that emerged during the late 15th century, marking a pivotal moment in maritime history. These innovations allowed for improved sailing against the wind and efficient navigation across both open seas and shallow coastal areas.

The Caravel’s impact on global exploration and trade routes was profound, shaping the course of history and bridging continents through its remarkable versatility and adaptability. This compact, maneuverable vessel was highly instrumental in the Age of Exploration. Caravels were characterised by their distinct features, including a triangular lateen sail, a shallow draft, and a combination of square and lateen-rigged masts.

Our dedication to enhancing trade, improving connections, and fostering growth mirrors the impact the Caravel had on global exploration and commerce.
